Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
According to the Guardian and I know it's a woman writer

Will Robert Snodgrass still be a West Ham player next season?
It is surprising to hear Hammers fans say they are a bit underwhelmed by Robert Snodgrass. Before swapping Hull for east London, and a significant wage hike, in a £10m January transfer the Scotland winger looked one of the best players in the Premier League. Snodgrass did all right in the draw at Sunderland, where his wonderfully whipped in left-foot corner created a goal for James Collins but at times certain team-mates seemed slightly reluctant to give him the ball. There are suggestions that Rafael Benítez might like to transplant the 29‑year‑old to Newcastle United – who would probably be already promoted had Benítez been allowed to sign him in January – this summer in a move which could suit all parties. If not, Snodgrass’s West Ham team-mates are going to have to start utilising, rather than wasting, his very real talent. Louise Taylor

It does make you wonder why he would turn from a good player at Hull. join us, look decent for a match or two, then turn into a decent impression of Stephen Hawking trying to kick a ball.
Surely it's not not anything to with our tactical genius of a manager, surely?

Another poster blaming the manager!

Maybe he looked good in a poor Hull team?

Sometimes it takes time to settle in to a side. Grow a pair you big girls.

He is a championship quality player as i said before.

A toilet signing at a ridiculous fee, congratulations to all thats involved and to all those boasting his record at hull. How about watching him on the pitch before looking at the stats and wasting more money on shit players

Big difference between being one of Hull's best players and "one of the Premier Leagues best players"

If Benitez was interested in taking Snodgrass I'd kiss him full on the lips.
If he wants Carroll as well I'd give him a BUM

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
Snodgrass is an average premier league player with no pace who doesn't have much shelf life to improve in the mid term. He's another squad player really. Like Fonte.

His form has dipped alot since his move but I felt he had a better game on Saturday.Great corner for the Collins goal and could of scored himself. he'll get game time now Antonio is out, hopefully will start to come good for the rest of the season. Id like to see him get more crosses in then laying it off too much. Seeing as we now just play allardyce football again. Maybe switch him to the left where he can get balls into the box quicker?

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
He is way too slow to be playing on the wrong wing. That is up to Bilic to swap him onto the left. What I cannot understand however is why any pro has to use the outside of their stronger foot to play a 2 yard pass instead of keeping his momentum going by using his "weaker" foot.

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
Very limited player. Always on a hiding to nothing based on the fact he was a replacement in the shott term atleast for Payet and was being talked up beyond his abilities by having his best ever season in terms of stats.

Before he arrived I thought he would atleast be a hard worker and be someone on the wind who wouldn't leave our fullbacks so exposed and may put a n the odd decent cross.

It's quickly become apparent though that he only likes to chase forward and is poor defensively. In fact, he is often the origin of opposition counter attacks as he loses the ball a lot.

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
By modern standards I would say he is s dreadful player. He slows the play down and takes the easy option every time he receives the ball. I'd I'magine that the stats would say his ball retention is far better than those that are positive and try to make things happen like Ali, Lanzini, Sane, Payet, Sanchez etc. Those lads give the ball away a lot but take full advantage when the other teams lose their shape. It's also the reason that I'm a big fan of Fernandes.

I'm sure our scouting team are looking at the wrong stats. The German model of packing is the way forward. I dread to think how Snodgrass would rate.

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
Said it at the time we were interested, too slow for a winger. He had a decent run of form for Hull, but it was such a short sighted signing. He's on bloody good money for a few years now, let's hope a promoted side take him off us for a few quid. Or hopefully Burnley are still interested, and we get shot quick.

I hope in future we start to fill our 2nd string players in the 1st team squad with hungry young players we are trying to develop rather than over paid journeyman, loans, and free transfers.

100% agree with that Cheds. It would also free a fortune up to invest in the right first team players.

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
For me it is another recruitment failure and largely down to Bilic. When you have a midfield that is largely one paced, it makes no sense bringing in another player that is one paced. The reason he and Noble get caught in possession and lose the ball a lot is in part due to lack of movement and passing options.

Both players would look a lot better in teams where there were players to compensate for their lack of pace and mobility. Put them both in the team is going to be a problem but then look at the rest of the team. Carroll is not going to be running the channels and giving options to hit up front, Ayew is not quick , Obiang is one of the more mobile players but tends to sit deep and Kouyate is what he has always been a player that goes missing for large parts of the game in midfield.

We have Antonio who is the one player that can provide some movement and passing options but where is the industry in the team and especially in the midfield. Arthur has actually helped a little in that regard but we cannot press or handle being pressed because Bilic like BFS and Grant and Zola have never seen the lack of "balance" or "blend" in the team. We have lacked movement across the midfield and upfront for a long time. The game has moved on and demands athletes and physicality combined with good technique. We are crying out for a Dembele, Kante type of plyer alongside Obiang and some genuine pace down the left and right and up front with back ups when the inevitable injuries hit.

Snodgrass was an attempt at wallpapering over the loss of Payet's creativity but we were seeing a workshy Payet causing problems as it was as he was being easily closed down and nullified even before he gave up.

Snodgrass would look a lot better in a hard working, more mobile midfield.

In summary, he was the wrong type of player to buy. What we needed was an athletic, physically strong, hard working player in midfield or out wide but with technical quality. They are usually not available in January without spending over the odds and big money.

Snodgrass is a decent player but is in the wrong team. IMHO. :-)

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
I don't think you can write snodgrass off yet, only fair to give him a few more games to settle, after all he's walked right into the middle of a shit show. We need to get this season over, get the players we know for sure arent making the grade out and some quality in over the summer and see how we start next season.

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
I think it was clear to anyone with half a brain that you could wrote Snodgrass off before he even signed for us. HAs never been very good and was blatantly a panic buy because Payet left. Pathetic again from our owners.

Never rated or wanted him here.
Terrible signing. If he was so good why has he only ever played for yo yo clubs like Norwich and Hull?

Re: Snodgrass was one of Premier Leagues best players
Sir Alf - totally agree with that except for the first sentence. For me, it's not a recruitment failure but a management failure. You are so right about the lack of movement in midfield and up front. Lanzini is the only one who is constantly busy, consistently looking for space and making himself available to receive the ball. That's just not good enough. This is the reason why we end up passing backwards so much and why our attacking moves break down so often. It is something that is down to the manager to sort out, but I'm afraid we're just not seeing any improvement in this area.
